#4 Lyndsey Gauley
"G" returns for her third season, having trained hard in the off-season. A clever shooting guard, Gauley has a deadly combination of a great 3-point shot and quick slashes to the hoop. A great team player, she helps all of her team mates be better.

#5 Teddi Firmi
This third year point guard has established herself as one of the best in the country. Working hard in the off-season, Teddi has added range to her shot, making her even more difficult to defend. Already a great driver and passer, she is also respected around the league for her tough on-the-ball defense.

#6 Jessica Selinger
Returning for her fifth season, this two-time Academic All-Canadian, Phys. Ed. Grad student led the country in foul shooting percentage last season (93.7%) and was 7th in the country in 3-point shooting percentage (42.5%). Needless to say, Jess is an integral part of the team's offense. As co-captain again this season, she leads the team with her competitive attitude, elevating her team mates to new levels of success.

#7 Jaime Dale
Jaime enters her fourth season with the Gaels looking to make the transition from point guard to shooting guard. July/August proved to be monumental in her off-season training as she developed a much more aggressive drive to the hoop to go with her already deadly 3-point shooting (35.6%).

#8 Brittany Moore
Britt was a highly sought-after point guard that truly fits with the Queen's team. An exceptional 3-point shooter, she compliments the already potent perimeter offense. Clever and quick are other attributes to describe this Hannon (near Hamilton) native. Coaches Tom Spironello at St. Thomas More CSS and Michelle O'Keefe of the Burlington Panther club team helped develop this talented athlete.

#9 Maddie Soye
Maddie enters second year in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies with a summer of intensive training under her belt. This 5-10 wing player can shoot the 3 and take the ball hard to the hoop. Additionally, her range and quickness make her an excellent offensive rebounder.

#10 Sarah Barnes
Barnesy enters Queen's Grad school (Kinesiology & Health Studies) for her final year of basketball eligibility. A great leader, both on and off the court, she could easily be nicknamed "clutch" for her timely 3's, particularly late in tight ball games. As an undersized post player, she is very clever and has developed outstanding defensive capabilities.

#11 Christine Wallace
Christine comes to Queen's from North Gower (just south of Ottawa) as a highly recruited wing player. At 6-0, with a wing span even greater, this multi-talented athlete (provincial high jumper) runs the floor extremely well, shoots the 3 with ease and gets on the offensive glass. Credit Byron MacInnis at St. Mark HS and Rosie Warden of the Osgoode Club team for helping develop Christine's game.

#12 Alaina Porter
Alaina is a graduate of Nelson HS in Burlington where coach Corey Trodd guided their team to an OFSAA Silver Medal. Burlington Panthers, with coach Michelle O'Keefe provided the club ball where this hard-working, small forward teamed up with Brittany Moore. Recruited for her tenacity on defense (and ability to 'take the charge'), A.P. has shown that she has great instincts on the offensive glass as well.

#13 Erin Skippon
Skip returns for her second season and is looking to make a significant contribution this season. At 6-0, with a good wing span, she plays well from both the perimeter and with her back-to-the-basket. Combine this with the ability to run the floor and a "defensive presence", and Skip will be well-known around the league.

#14 Anne Murphy
Anne heads into her fourth season with the Gaels, having been the backbone of the team for the past two seasons. A solid post defender (despite her 5-11 stature), Anne does an outstanding job of controlling the defensive paint - second in team rebounding, while adding almost 8 points per game.

#15 Amanda Northcott
Amanda is no stranger to the Gaels, having played two seasons before sitting out last year. And now she is back in fine form. A very tough post defender (who can also extend her defense to the perimeter), Amanda also brings her physical strength to the offensive end of the floor as well.

Dave Wilson - Head Coach
Dave continued with Canada Basketball again this past summer - this time as Head Coach of the World University Games team that competed in Bangkok, Thailand. The team finished 7th in the world, CanadaÕs best showing since 1991. "Being the Head Coach brought with it a great deal of work, but also a lot of satisfaction, as the players continued to develop and improve," commented Wilson. "Once again IÕve had the opportunity to study teams from around the world, with an eye to improving our team at Queen's."

Heading into his 26th season as head coach (27th with the program) Dave feels that the work done by the players over the summer, under the direction of coaches Tim Orpin and Adam Lynn will prove invaluable to the development of the team this season. With 9 returning players and three talented recruits, depth on the team has never been better. In the last 7 years, the team has competed for three OUA East Championships, won two OUA East Division Championships, one OUA Championship, and has made two CIS Championship appearances. Queen's truly is a program that combines the best of both worlds - first rate academics and first rate basketball.

Noted for his commitment to his athletes both on and off the court, Dave feels that it is essential for athletes to know that the entire coaching staff is willing and able to help with matters relating to basketball, school, and life in general. Continuing to improve his coaching credentials, Dave has accumulated an impressive background in addition to his tenure at Queen's:

  • Head Coach, World University Games Team - 7th Place finish (Thailand, 2007)

  • Assistant Coach, National Jr. Team - 9th place finish, World Championship ( Tunisia 2005)

  • Assistant Coach, National Young Women's Team - N. American Championship (Brazil 2002)

  • Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC)
  • NCCP Level IV Certified Coach
  • National Coaching Institute High Performance Coaching Diploma
  • OUA East Coach of the Year in 1998 & 1993

Dave's post-secondary education began at West Virginia University before transferring to Queen's to complete a B.A., B.P.H.E., B.Ed. and an M.Ed. As an educator, he believes strongly in the value of a Queen's education, and the ability to combine schoolwork with the rigours of the varsity basketball program. He is extremely proud of the academic success of the players in the program, boasting a 100% graduation rate over his 26 years. Himself a former Golden Gael, Dave makes his home in Kingston with his wife, Laurel, and son, Tai (16).

Tim Orpin - Assistant Coach
Tim, an outstanding tactician and motivator, enters his 22nd season with the Gaels. Gaining recognition with Canada Basketball, he spent two summers coaching in the Ontario Centre of Performance Program. The Centre brought together 35 of Ontario's best high school-aged basketball players to provide training in the skills and systems used by Canada's National Team. Tim will use the knowledge and skills gained to further assist the Queen's program. A Level IV NCCP certified coach, Tim has also completed the gruelling 2-year diploma program in High Performance Coaching. A professional educator by trade, he is currently working in the guidance department at KCVI.

Adam Lynn - Assistant Coach
Adam returns for his 4th season with the Gaels having accumulated an impressive vitae coaching at Napanee District High School, in the OBA Club system, and now at KCVI. As a Level III NCCP certified coach, Adam brings a unique combination of talents including a strong rapport with his players, the ability to be creative and adjust to various situations quickly, and an extensive knowledge of the game. A teacher at KCVI, Adam is a graduate of Queen's University and makes his home in Inverary with his wife, Bety and two children, Toban & Rylie.
