The Queen's women's basketball team dropped their tenth game of the season and remain winless on Friday nights as the Ryerson Rams held on to defeat the Gaels 48-46 inside the Bartlett Gymnasium.
Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont., recorded a game high 18 points. Erin Skippon of Kelowna, B.C., finished with 10 points and five rebounds for the Gaels.
Ryerson stayed with Queen's throughout the game, capitalizing in the second half by holding the Gaels pointless for over nine minutes. Lisa Goldring of Burlington, Ont., led the way for the Rams going 10 for 12 from the line and finishing with a team high 15 points.
Queen's, Ryerson and Laurentian are all tied for fourth place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division with a 7-10 record and five games remaining.
Friday night's game was in honour of the CIS Shoot for the Cure initiative which helps raise awareness for breast cancer research. All proceeds from tickets sold as well as donations from fans and other promotions were donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Head Coach Dave Wilson also personally donated the dollar equivalent of the combined score to the cause. Queen's menŐs rugby, who raised $21,000 during the CIBC Run For the Cure in September were also in attendance and honoured at the event.
