Fast-paced game versus UQAM results in 7 point loss
Queen's 64, UQAM 71

By Dave Wilson

Rookie point guard Brittany Moore made her debut in the starting line up (with the injury to Teddi Firmi) and made the most of her opportunity, dropping 12 points and handing out 3 assists. This was a faster paced game than the day before, with much more intensity, and from a spectators point of view, entertainment value. Early pressure by UQAM, coupled with an almost flawless pressbreak, provided us the opportunity to grab the early lead. Boards continue to be our nemesis, as UQAM used their superior size to get the ball inside and attack the offensive glass. With 8 seconds to go in the half we trialed by two. Sarah Barnes drained a 3-pointer on the buzzer to give us a 41-40 half time lead. Barnes had 12 at the break, with Jaime Dale and Erin Skippon adding 7 apiece.

The pace of the game in the second half was a little slower as UQAM continued to attack the offensive glass. Our shooting touch from the first half (56%) began to falter and we quickly fell behind by 6. Trailing by as much as 10, we clawed our way back to 4 points on several occasions, but could not overcome that barrier. Our shooting dropped to 36% in the second half in the 71-64 loss. Barnes finished with 14 points, while Moore finished with 12.
