Lack of intensity sinks Gaels
Queen's 45, Cape Breton U. 76
By Dave Wilson
This is a game I would like to forget. Despite our knowledge of CBU, having played them twice last week, we failed to bring the required level of intensity to be successful in the CIS. Poor shooting, to put it mildly, did not help matters, shooting only 18% from the floor in the first half. Rookie Christine Wallace was our leading scorer at the half with a paltry 5 points - we only 'amassed' 18 as a team, to CBU's 35. We did show brief signs of life in the third quarter, as we managed to almost double our score, dropping 15, but still gave up 13. An early run in the fourth quarter by CBU sealed our fate, leading to a dismal performance the rest of the way. Sarah Barnes was the one bright spot, as she finished with 15 points, 13 in the second half. She was the only player to score more than 6 points on our team.
