McMaster crushes Queen's in fourth quarter come-from-behind 3 point win: 53-50
By Dave Wilson

This game was not pretty - not by any stretch of the imagination. It looked more like a contest as to which team could miss the most number of shots, regardless of whether taken from the perimeter or right around the hoop. Despite the poor shooting (by both teams) we managed a 13-11 first quarter lead. The second quarter became laughable in terms of the shot missed as we managed only 8 points - Mac only 6. We went into half time with a 21-17 lead. Not surprisingly, the only double digits on the scoresheet were from rebounding all the missed shots: Erin Skippon (Kelowna, BC) had 10 boards to go along with her 8 points. In the third quarter, we settled down and slowly built a lead. Mac could not buy a hoop and finished with only 6 in the quarter to our 18. We led 39-23 after three. We maintained the lead for the first couple of minutes of the fourth before MacÕs constant pressure began to take its toll. We found more ways to turn the ball over against their press, with everyone on the floor adding their own unique style. It was like a bad dream, watching the lead dwindle - quickly, as often we did not get the ball out of our own end. With just over a minute to go, we gave up the lead for good and could only manage two points in the last minute to lose 53-50. After holding Mac to 21 points through 3 quarters, we surrendered 30 points in the fourth. Brittany Moore (Hannon, ON) managed 15 second half points to finish with 17. Skippon finished with a double-double, 14 points and 13 boards.
