by Dave Wilson Sixteen for 55 and 1 for 11 are not numbers that are likely to win you basketball games. Shooting a dismal 26% from the floor, 9% from beyond the 3-point line and not dominating the boards is a recipe for disaster. But that was only part of the story -- add 19 turnovers and a lack of intensity on defense, and you are left with a very long and painful night at the gym. Credit to Ryerson for utilizing their quickness and intensity to keep us off-balance the entire game. Given that at no point during the game did we play well, it goes with out saying that we started the game poorly -- mishandling the basketball, unable to connect on routine shots, while committing foolish fouls on defence. All this resulted in a 7 point quarter, compared to Ryerson's 16. The second quarter was not much improved as we managed a measly 11 points to Ryerson's 13. Since not much changed throughout the rest of the game, let me summarize by saying we were outscored 17-16 in the third and managed only 11 points in the fourth (to Ryerson's 8). No one managed double digits in scoring. |
