Moore Tallies 15 Points in Gaels Loss to Ravens
by Queen's University Sports information Office

Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. once again was the Gaels leading scorer, posting 15 points in a 61-50 loss to the Carleton Ravens on Saturday. Moore scored 16 in yesterday's win against the Ottawa Gee-Gees and tallied a total of 31 points in her last two games.

Queen's finishes with a 9-13 record and two points ahead of the fifth place Carleton Ravens who close their campaign at 8-14. Queen's will look to avenge tonight's loss when they meet Carleton next Saturday (February 16) in one of two OUA East Quarterfinal matchups. The Laurentian University Voyageurs will host the Ryerson University Rams in Sudbury, Ont., in the other quarterfinal. (Both games times are TBA).

Queen's came out sluggish in the first quarter as Carleton poured in 20 points, while the Gaels only mustered five. Moore helped revive the struggling Gaels offence in the second and Queen's went into the half down 36-23.

In the second half, Queen's used a six point run to tally 17 third quarter points while keeping the Ravens to nine. However, the Gaels ran out of steam in the fourth as the Ravens outscored the Gaels 16-10 in the final frame to win by 11 points.

Sarah Barnes of St. Catharines, Ont. and Anne Murphy of Milford, Ont. both accumulated 8 points while Teddi Firmi of Kitchener, Ont. pulled down 9 rebounds to lead all Golden Gaels in rebounds.

The Ravens were led by veteran Kelly Lyons of Brights Grove, Ont. with 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Courtney Smith of Ottawa added 12 points.
