Moore scores 40 points to make history in win over RMC

Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. poured in a school record 40 points as the Gaels defeated the Royal Military College Paladins 79-64 in a Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women's basketball match on Wednesday night.

Moore broke former Gael and current assistant coach Claire Meadows' old regular season record by three points. Meadows had scored 37 against Windsor in November 2006. Moore was nine points shy of tying the OUA single game mark (49) held by Candi Lohr (Brock) in 1982-83.

"I felt good out there shooting, but I never expected to make 40. If I was open, I would take it, if not IĠd look for the open man," said Moore. "It was a good game, it's nice to have and I'm happy about it."

Moore's previous high water mark came ironically against RMC earlier this season when she recorded 25 points in a regular season match on October 31.

The second-year physical education major scored over half of the Gaels points, dropping 11 three pointers in her 32 minutes on the floor. She was 61% from behind the arch and scored more points than her teammates combined (39).

Alaina Porter of Burlington, Ont. was the Gaels' next top scorer, producing 10 points with nine rebounds.

Kim Egert of Westport, Ont. was the Paladins' leading scorer with 18 points followed by Sharlene Harding of Brampton, Ont., who posted 16 points in the loss.

Queen's built a 37-29 advantage in the first half courtesy of six Moore three-pointers and then pulled away in the third quarter scoring 23 points while RMC managed only 18.

The Gaels improve their record to 4-6 while snapping a four game losing streak which dates back to November 21st. RMC record drops to 0-10 and are still looking for their first ever win since joining the league in 2003-04.
