The elite boys program places an emphasis on development of individual skills within a highly competitive environment. Athletes are pushed to their mental and physical limits while receiving top level coaching from elite community coaches (Duncan Cowan, Suche James, Jason Wimmer and others) and members of the men’s varsity program. Participants will be divided into teams that will implement the same offensive and defensive systems with an emphasis on a variety of advanced skills that will enable them to become a more complete player with a solid understanding of the game of basketball. Additionally, our athletes will receive a daily session with the Rodney Wilson, Queen’s Strength and Conditioning Coach, with a focus on core strength, agility and nutritional development. Lunches may be brought or bought on site. Last summer, this program operated as the Limestone Basketball Academy. Please contact Duncan Cowan at with questions regarding these programs.

Jon Ogden of Plainfield, Ont. was selected Thursday as the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East Rookie of the Year after finishing the season third in Queen's Golden Gaels scoring. Ogden, a 6'5" forward, was also named to the OUA East All-Rookie team, joined by teammate Travis Mitchell of Navan, Ont.

Mitchell's older brother Simon was also one of two Gaels who earned an OUA East Second Team All-Star selection after averaging 12.2 points per game this season. The fourth-year guard scored a season high 29-points on January 19 against the University of Toronto and this all-star selection is the second of his career.

Kingston's Mitch Leger was the other Gael named as an OUA East Second Team All-Star. The Frontenac Secondary School graduate led the Gaels in scoring 17.5 points per game and also averaged 8.2 rebounds per game this season. Leger finished in the top ten of the OUA for both scoring and rebounding and he follows up his rookie year where he was selected to the OUA East All-Rookie team.

The OUA's announcement saw four Gaels recognized, the most for any other school. Carleton had three selections to the All-Star and All-Rookie team while Toronto and Ottawa each had two selections.

This season the Gaels finished with a 14-8 record which placed them fourth in the OUA East Division. The Gaels playoff-run ended just weeks ago when they lost to five-time defending champion Carlton in Ottawa.
Queen's season ends with loss to Ravens

Carleton Ravens have advanced to the Ontario University Athletics East division final after they pounded the Queen's Golden Gaels 96-44 Saturday in a semifinal match in Ottawa. Any pretense of an upset disappeared quickly as the Ravens scored the first seven points of the game, four of them by Ernestown Secondary School grad Aaron Doornekamp.

The game was almost four minutes old when freshman Jon Ogden hit a three-pointer for Queen's first points. Nick DiDonato, another freshmen, hit a three to cut the gap to 10-6 but Carleton scored 16 of the next 21 points to end the first quarter with a 26-11 advantage.

The Ravens scored 27 points in the second quarter to take a 53-29 lead into halftime. The five-time defending national champions put the Gaels in their place when they started the second half with a 10-2 run.

Carleton's three Kingston players wreaked havoc on the Gaels as Frontenac Secondary School grads Stu Turnbull and Rob Saunders each scored 17 points.

Saunders' performance included five three-point baskets as the Ravens were good on 15 of 31 attempts - 48.4 per cent - from beyond the arc.

Doornekamp finished the game with 14 points and a game-best seven rebounds in just 17 minutes of playing time. Carleton dominated the Gaels under the basket, out-rebounding them 39-16, including 28-3 under its defensive glass.

Simon Mitchell was the only Gael to reach double figures, with 13 points. The Ravens held Queen's leading scorer, Mitch Leger, to just five.

In Saturday's final, the Ravens will play Ottawa, a 63-60 winner yesterday over the Toronto Blues in the division's other semifinal.
